Third international conference – register now!

Dear colleagues!

We have a pleasure to announce that the registration is now open to the third international conference of the project „Portrait of a Judge“.

We are excited to invite everyone, who is interested in judicial independence and selection, evaluation and promotions of judges in particular to the conference dedicated to the ⚖️ Model of competences in selection, evaluation and promotion of judges, specifics and reflections of individual countries, on 5-6 October, 2023 in Prague.

We invite you to listen to the interventions by the distinguished speakers and participate in the workshops on 4 main topics:

• Fairness and transparency of judicial selection as a safeguard of judicial independence;
• Promotion of judges to higher positions, objectivity, transparency, independence of the system, reflection and specifics;
• Presentation of strategic guidelines and proposals, discussion of the results with the judiciary of the Czech Republic;
• Methodological support for persons conducting the selection, evaluation and promotion procedures: status quo and the way forward.

The conference is a joint effort by the partners, implementing a scholarly project funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the European Economic Area (EEA) and Norway Grants Fund for Regional Cooperation by: Mykolas Romeris University, Metropolitan University Prague, Universitetet i Oslo, Supreme Court of Lithuania,  Supreme Court of the Republic of Albania and High Judicial Council of Albania.
